US President Donald Trump, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last week, refused to transfer hundreds of additional interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.

This is reported by the Financial Times, citing informed sources.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, during negotiations in the Oval Office, Zelenskyy asked Trump to provide Ukraine with hundreds of additional interceptor missiles for Patriot systems on the eve of winter.

According to sources, the American president did not support this request. He explained his decision by the lack of missiles in the US stockpile.

According to FT sources, Trump noted that these interceptors are now needed to protect American facilities in the Middle East, as well as Washington’s allies in the region, amid the war with Iran.

It was previously reported that Ukraine has not yet received a license to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot systems. The US stated that negotiations are ongoing, but they will not have time to complete them and conclude a corresponding agreement before the beginning of winter.
