US President Donald Trump said Iran has 10 to 15 days to reach an agreement on its nuclear program. Otherwise, he said, “really bad things could happen.”

He said this during a meeting of his “Peace Council”.

He noted that he would decide within the next 10 days whether to continue diplomatic negotiations with Tehran or order a military strike. Later, aboard Air Force One, the president clarified to reporters that 10-15 days would be sufficient time to make a decision.

In response, Tehran appealed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres with a warning that American military installations in the Middle East would become “legitimate targets” in the event of a US attack.

The day before, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated that Iran would be “very wise” to reach an agreement with the United States. She added that Trump continues to hope for a diplomatic solution, even though the American military has increased its presence in the region in recent weeks, including the deployment of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln .

According to Sky News , the UK has refused to grant the US permission to use British bases for strikes against Iran. Specifically, this concerns the joint British-American base on Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, where US strategic bombers are stationed.

Trump previously stated that the American fleet was approaching the shores of Iran . He therefore called on Tehran to immediately begin negotiations on a nuclear agreement.

As is known, the United States planned for two rounds of diplomatic negotiations on Ukraine and Iran to take place in Geneva .
