Russian media, citing Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, reported that on Thursday, July 3, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation that lasted more than an hour. The key topic of the discussion was the war in Ukraine.

According to Ushakov, Putin and Trump spoke for nearly an hour, focusing primarily on the conflict in Ukraine.

Putin reportedly told Trump that Russia would continue to pursue its goals and had no intention of backing down.

During the call, President Trump raised the issue of an early end to hostilities, but the Russian leader did not provide a clear response. However, he stated that the search for a political solution to the conflict is currently ongoing.

“Overall, as always, the conversation between the two leaders was on the same wavelength — frank, businesslike, and specific. The presidents will, of course, continue their communication. Such an agreement was reached,” Ushakov said.

The two leaders also discussed the situation surrounding Iran and the broader Middle East.

Additionally, according to Ushakov, Putin and Trump touched on the possibility of exchanging films that promote traditional values, which align with the ideological positions of both Russia and the Trump administration.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin do not have many topics to discuss.
