On Saturday, June 14, US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
This was stated by the assistant to the Russian dictator, Yuri Ushakov.
According to him, the telephone conversation lasted about 50 minutes, during which the leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East and the implementation of agreements between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
In particular, Putin informed about the progress in implementing the agreements reached between the Ukrainian and Russian sides in Istanbul on June 2. He also emphasized that the Russian Federation is ready to continue the negotiation process with Ukraine.
“The Russian side has expressed its readiness to resume negotiations with the Ukrainians, as agreed, after June 22. Donald Trump acknowledged this information,” Ushakov noted.
At the same time, the Kremlin leader reminded Trump of the proposal to find mutually acceptable solutions regarding the Iranian nuclear program. Both leaders did not rule out the possibility of returning to the negotiating table on this issue.
As Ushakov reported, the American president described the current situation in the Middle East as “very alarming.”
Additionally, Putin congratulated Trump on his birthday and American Flag Day.
“During the conversation, the leaders highlighted the brotherhood of the two countries during World War II and expressed satisfaction with the established relations that allow for the resolution of current issues,” the report states.
As a reminder, in May, Trump and Putin had a telephone conversation, after which the American president stated that Ukraine and Russia should immediately begin negotiations on a ceasefire and an end to the war.
It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump is seeking to hold a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as possible.
