US President Donald Trump sarcastically commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words regarding new American sanctions, which, according to the Russian leader, will allegedly not affect the Russian economy.

Trump announced this during a conversation with reporters at the White House, his own correspondent reports to Ukrinform.

“I’m glad he thinks so. That’s good,” the American leader responded briefly, emphasizing the ironic tone of his response.

At the same time, Trump noted that the true effect of the sanctions will become apparent only in six months.

“We’ll see how it all plays out,” the US president added.

New US sanctions against Russia are being introduced in response to further Russian aggression and attempts to avoid economic responsibility, experts note.

As a reminder, the Donald Trump administration has announced the first major package of financial restrictions aimed at the Russian economy . This move is part of Washington’s new strategy, the aim of which is to force the Kremlin to end its war against Ukraine.

As reported, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that new United States sanctions will not affect the Russian economy in any way.
