The US and Israel have developed plans for a new series of strikes on Iran, which could resume after the US midterm elections on November 3. The military is preparing for a short but intense operation, while Washington continues diplomatic pressure on Tehran.

This is reported by The New York Times, citing sources.

According to the publication, the American and Israeli military have intensified preparations for a possible operation. In particular, they are conducting training flights over Iraq, practicing maneuvers for strikes.

This week, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel. According to US officials, the two discussed the possibility of further attacks on Iran.

Potential targets include energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and Iranian missile and drone stockpiles. Some U.S. officials believe a large-scale campaign of strikes could critically damage Iran’s economy and force Tehran to make concessions at the negotiating table.

At the same time, the prospects for a new operation remain uncertain. The previous wave of intensive US-Israeli strikes, which lasted from February to April, caused a rise in global energy prices and increased inflationary pressures. In addition, the hostilities worsened the security situation in the Middle East and significantly reduced the Pentagon’s stockpile of interceptor missiles.

There is no guarantee that US President Donald Trump will approve a new campaign. He has repeatedly rejected plans to resume large-scale hostilities this year. According to the newspaper, he made such a decision even this month, when American and Israeli forces were already close to being ready to strike.

Despite preparations for a possible escalation, the US continues negotiations with Iran. Washington is using the threat of renewed war as leverage to try to obtain concessions on Tehran’s nuclear program and control of the Strait of Hormuz.

However, the Iranian side is not yet ready to give in on the issue of the nuclear program and insists that its consideration be postponed to a later stage of the negotiations.

The White House has not confirmed preparations for new strikes. An administration official said Wednesday that the government does not comment on military plans “that may or may not exist.”

He added that Trump is keeping all options open to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that he does not believe in Russian and Chinese aid to Iran . According to him, even if Moscow and Beijing support Tehran, such aid should be insignificant, because both countries risk losing too much.

As reported, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered Central Command to complete preparations for the possible resumption of large-scale combat operations against Iran . President Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision on new strikes.
