US President Donald Trump is working to create a victory fund for Ukraine, funded by new tariffs on China. The proceeds from these tariffs are planned to be used to purchase weapons for the Ukrainian army.

This is reported by The Telegraph .

It is noted that Trump instructed US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant to present this initiative to European colleagues on the eve of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Washington.

“President Trump has instructed the ambassador and me to convey to our European allies that we will support the implementation of a ‘tariff on Russian oil’ against China or a ‘tariff for the sake of Ukrainian victory’ against China. But our Ukrainian or European allies must be ready to follow us. We will implement these tariffs if our European partners join us,” Bessent said.

According to the publication, the strategy involves imposing a 500 percent tariff on imports of Chinese goods. The funds received from this are planned to be used to support Ukraine’s defense needs.

Trump’s plan aims to increase economic pressure on Russia and its ally China, and the White House sees the initiative as a way to force Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table with Washington and Kyiv.

Diplomatic sources in Washington said that the idea of sanctions against China for buying Russian oil had previously met with resistance from several European governments.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he was optimistic about the prospects for peace in Ukraine — especially after the successful hostage exchange in the Middle East.

As is known, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump , which he called “good and very productive”, during which they discussed the possibility of transferring long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kyiv.

Subsequently, US President Donald Trump said that he may inform Vladimir Putin about the possibility of transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine if the war is not resolved soon. The supply of such weapons is being considered in response to Ukraine’s needs and was discussed in a conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The day before, it became known that Europe is increasingly facing provocations, attacks, and information pressure from Russia. China is gradually joining this hybrid aggression.
