American leader Donald Trump has expressed his desire to meet with the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as a sign of gratitude for the release of political prisoners.

He wrote about this on the social network Truth Social.

According to him, on March 19, following a meeting with the American delegation, Lukashenko pardoned 250 political prisoners.

“The total number of prisoners that President Lukashenko has generously released since May of last year has exceeded 500,” Trump wrote.

He added that he would like to “express my sincere gratitude” to Lukashenko for releasing the prisoners.

“I look forward to meeting him at the next meeting of the Peace Council,” the US president said.

Previously, the United States considered inviting Lukashenko to meet with Trump in Washington or at the Mar-a-Lago residence.

By the way, in March, Lukashenko released 250 political prisoners after the US lifted sanctions against Belarusian companies.
