Cambodia plans to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
This was reported by Reuters.
In response to the publication’s request, Cambodian Prime Minister Sang Chanthol confirmed that his country is nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize.
“We recognize his great efforts for the good of peace,” Chantol said.
According to Reuters, it was Trump’s call last week that broke the deadlock in efforts to end fighting between Thailand and Cambodia. The countries subsequently signed a ceasefire, which was agreed in Malaysia.
After the truce was announced, the White House claimed that it was thanks to Trump. A Trump administration spokeswoman wrote in X: “Give him the Nobel Peace Prize!”
It is noted that due to intense clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, which lasted five days, more than 300,000 people on both sides of the border were forced to leave the fighting region, and at least 43 people were killed.
Earlier it became known that on July 24, clashes broke out between Thailand and Cambodia on a disputed section of the border. Civilians were injured as a result of the fighting .
