US President Donald Trump said that negotiations between the US and Iran could resume in the near future.

This was reported by the New York Post.

According to Trump, there is a possibility that the talks will take place within the next two days in Pakistan.

“Something could happen in the next two days, and we’re inclined to go there,” the American president said.

Trump had previously said that things were moving “slowly,” so the United States would like to change the location of the talks. In particular, Europe was being considered. However, he later assured that there was no reason to change the location, as Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir was “doing a great job.”

“It’s fantastic, and that makes it more likely that we’ll go back there. Why should we go to some country that has nothing to do with us?” the US president explained.

Earlier, Iran confirmed the achievement of a two-week ceasefire with the US and stated its readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz for this period.

However, within hours of the ceasefire announcement, a number of Middle Eastern countries came under fire . Iran announced an attack by the US and Israel on an oil refinery located on Laban Island, and Tehran responded by striking five of its neighbors.

It is worth noting that Trump announced direct peace talks between the US and Iran in the Pakistani capital. However, the meeting ended without an agreement.
