US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize following his role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which ended a 12-day conflict in the Middle East. The nomination was put forward by Republican Congressman Buddy Carter of Georgia, who formally submitted a letter to the Nobel Committee.

This is reported by FOX News.

In the document, Carter emphasized that Trump played an “exceptional and historic role” in ending the conflict between the two countries and preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. According to him, it was the president’s decisive actions that became the key to a peace agreement that, until then, many considered impossible.

“President Trump has demonstrated leadership that embodies the ideals of the Nobel Peace Prize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the promotion of international harmony,” Carter said in a statement.

The ceasefire agreement was announced on Monday, June 23, following an escalation that began with Israel’s preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. After several days of mutual shelling and airstrikes, including U.S. involvement, both sides agreed to a cessation of hostilities.

Despite the ceasefire, the very next day Israel accused Iran of violating it, though Tehran denied the allegations. This incident once again highlighted the fragility of the agreement reached.

This is not Donald Trump’s first nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, but he has yet to win the award. According to the Nobel Committee, 338 candidates have already been nominated for the 2025 prize.
By the way, the Pakistani government has officially nominated US President Donald Trump as a candidate for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his “key leadership” during the India-Pakistan conflict.

Recall that after the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people, including 25 Indian tourists, were killed, relations between India and Pakistan sharply deteriorated. India accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist groups, which led to a series of diplomatic and economic measures from both sides.

Earlier, United States President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan had agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire
