United States President Donald Trump has said that Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war will be able to remain in the United States until the full-scale Russian invasion is over.
He announced this on July 29 during a briefing at the White House, Suspilne writes.
When asked by a journalist whether the administration plans to allow Ukrainians to remain in the country during the period of hostilities, the head of state answered briefly but clearly:
“Yes, we will do it. We have many Ukrainians who have come to the United States, and we are working with them.”
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt floated the possibility of revising the terms of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ukrainian citizens. According to her, the government was considering the option of revoking legal protection for some categories of Ukrainian refugees.
Now, it seems, the official position has changed. According to the president, supporting those fleeing war remains a priority.
Recall that from October 1, 2025 , the Netherlands will more than double the amount of monthly asylum contributions for Ukrainian refugees.
As reported, the mayor of the Swiss city of Vigholtingen, Franka Burkhardt, criticized the behavior of some Ukrainian refugees, stating that some of them show disrespect and do not seek to integrate into Swiss society.
