Trump refused to hand over Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine after a conversation with Putin.

US President Donald Trump decided not to transfer Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine after a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin in October.

The Wall Street Journal writes about this.

According to the publication, during the conversation, Putin warned Trump that the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine would allegedly lead to an “escalation of the war” and have a negative impact on US-Russian relations.

The conversation between the two leaders took place on October 16, just one day before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House.

According to a transcript released by Bloomberg, the telephone call between Trump and Putin was arranged on October 14 by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov.

Incidentally, the Pentagon has positively assessed the possibility of supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine , but the final decision on the transfer remains with US President Donald Trump. This decision has provoked mixed reactions among European allies and raised a number of operational questions regarding the use of the missiles in wartime.

Earlier, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump should allow Ukraine to use American long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles in the fight against Russia.

As a reminder, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump stated that his priority was ending the war and warned against relying on Tomahawk missiles .

Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine is already in talks with European partners who could help by providing long-range weapons .
