US President Donald Trump has said he is no longer interested in meeting and communicating with Russian dictator Putin.
He made this announcement while speaking to reporters after a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In response to a journalist’s question about whether he was considering meeting with Putin and whether such a meeting could save the situation, Trump replied: “I don’t know. I’m not considering it. You know, I’m not really interested in talking anymore.”
Trump noted that he would impose “secondary sanctions” if a deal was not reached.
Asked by reporters whether he believed Putin had lied to him about his intentions, Trump replied: “I don’t want to use the word ‘lied’. All I know is that we had a good talk. And it looked, at least three times, that we were going to reach a ceasefire and maybe peace. And you’re dividing the situation, doing whatever it takes, obviously, to get to the bottom of it, and suddenly missiles are flying at Kyiv and other places.”
The US president also stated that Putin constantly asks him to sign a trade deal.
“He wants to make trade deals with us. He talks about it all the time. He wanted, and I imagined, that there would be great trade with Russia,” Trump said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced a new deadline for Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine . The new ultimatum was 10-12 days.
