US President Donald Trump believes that the United States should not have intervened in the war in Ukraine and spent significant funds supporting Kyiv.
He stated this while talking to journalists.
He said the US has already spent hundreds of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine. Trump also criticized the previous US administration, saying it gave Ukraine large amounts of money and ammunition.
“We are spending billions. We didn’t have to go into Ukraine. Ukraine is thousands of miles away from us, across the ocean. We had a president who was just a fool: he gave them $350 billion without getting anything in return,” he said.
At the same time, Trump noted that after transferring ammunition to Ukraine, the United States is actively increasing its production within the country.
He also added that Washington is currently selling ammunition to Ukraine, and, according to him, the European Union is financing these supplies.
Recall, US President Donald Trump told European allies that the US would stop supplying weapons to Ukraine if they did not join in unblocking the Strait of Hormuz.
As reported, the Pentagon is considering the possibility of redirecting some of the weapons planned to be transferred to Ukraine to the Middle East due to depletion of ammunition stocks.
