Trump suggests Ukraine partially surrender: what the new peace plan hides

Donald Trump’s new peace plan is almost no different from the scandalous “28 points” and once again demands serious concessions from Ukraine.

This is reported by ZN.UA, which reviewed four documents that formed the basis of the “updated” plan.

The American proposal actually involves recognizing Russian control over Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as freezing the current front line in part of Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. In Donetsk region, they want to create a buffer zone that will not be controlled by Ukrainian troops.

NATO issues are also being decided against Ukraine’s favor: the US is pledging to block its entry to “appease Russia.” This contradicts NATO summit decisions, but the document has no legal force and could easily change with the new administration.

Instead of real security guarantees, Ukraine is being offered only “assurances” similar to the Budapest Memorandum. The US will respond to a new Russian attack only if it is deemed “significant and prolonged.”

Separate provisions concern control over the Zaporizhzhia NPP – the plan provides for a new operator from the US and the transfer of only part of the electricity to Ukraine.

Ukraine also risks losing control over reconstruction: the US and Europe want to manage a $200 billion fund and make a profit using frozen Russian assets. Some of the money is planned to be directed to joint US-Russian projects.

The authors of the analysis emphasize that the documents look like a compromise at the expense of Ukraine and an attempt to “pacify” Russia. European partners, they say, are shocked by the content of the documents.

The situation is complicated by Kyiv’s weak negotiating team, which, according to experts, is unable to withstand pressure from the US and Russia.

The analysis shows: in its current form, Trump’s peace plan does not provide Ukraine with a just peace or real guarantees – only the risks of losing territories, influence, and control over its own state.

It was previously reported that Ukraine sent a revised version of its peace plan to Washington after a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump and the leaders of Great Britain, France, and Germany.

Recall, US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the war in Ukraine turned out to be more difficult than in the Middle East, however, he expects good news in the near future .
