US President Donald Trump has allegedly agreed to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s proposal for Moscow’s complete control over Donbass.

An unnamed European diplomat conveyed this information to journalists from the American television channel Fox News, which is close to the Republican Party.

According to the publication, Putin, in exchange for the entire territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions – both occupied and controlled by Ukraine – is apparently ready to freeze the front in other directions and reach an agreement with Kiev.

After a personal meeting with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, Trump reportedly told allies that the Russian president “wants to get the key Luhansk and Donetsk regions,” but at the same time appeared open to “freezing” the front lines in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also took part in the telephone conversation following the summit, categorically rejecting the possibility of handing over Donbass and Luhansk to Russia. As Fox News notes, the head of the Ukrainian state refused to withdraw troops from the 30% of Donetsk Oblast that remains under Ukrainian control, calling it unconstitutional and dangerous to national security.

As is known, on August 15, negotiations between Trump and Putin took place in Anchorage. In the run-up to the meeting , there were serious concerns in the expert and political community that the result of the negotiations would be an “exchange of territories”, that is, in fact, the legalization of the occupied Ukrainian lands by the Russian Federation.

Following the talks, Trump and Putin held a joint press conference. “Pryamoy” collected all the key statements by the leaders of the US and Russia . After the talks, the US President said that the summit was constructive and gave grounds for optimism. He announced consultations with NATO and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but stressed that there are no final agreements yet .

By the way, after the negotiations, Putin emphasized that a solution to the war in Ukraine is possible only after eliminating its “fundamental causes” and restoring the balance of security in Europe.

It should be noted that Putin proposed to Ukraine, as a first step towards ending the war, to withdraw troops from the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions controlled by Ukraine .
