According to the publication, the upcoming visit was agreed upon after talks between US and Ukrainian Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington.

The FT’s sources say that relations between Kyiv and the Trump team have changed markedly in recent months. While they were previously tense, the parties have now established direct contact through advisers.

According to sources, Zelenskyy has repeatedly noted in private conversations that it was the long-term work of advisers that helped change Trump’s attitude towards the war in Ukraine.

According to people close to both presidents, Kyiv has tried to convince Trump that supporting Ukraine is in the interests of the United States. In addition, the Ukrainian side has been banking on the American president’s desire to be associated with successful political decisions – an argument that has become especially important for him recently.

At the same time, the Financial Times writes that Trump is increasingly critical of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s unwillingness to make concessions. He has also begun to perceive the successes of the Ukrainian army on the front more positively. However, some supporters of the “America First” movement still oppose continued support for Ukraine.

As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy summed up his visit to the United States , during which he held talks with President Donald Trump at the White House and met with senators and congressmen at the Capitol. As a result of the talks, the parties agreed to intensify the diplomatic process, continue cooperation in the defense sector, and increase sanctions pressure on Russia.
