Trump to talk about tightening or easing sanctions at meeting with Putin – Bessent

Donald Trump will use the topic of sanctions during a conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant, Sky News reports.
“Trump will make it clear to Putin that ‘all options are on the table’ in the context of a possible easing or tightening of sanctions against Russia,” the US Treasury Secretary said.
He also clarified that US sanctions against the Russian Federation may be strengthened, may be weakened, and may have expiration dates.
Bessent added that European countries should join the US in these sanctions and help create more leverage over Russia.
As a reminder, Trump announced that he would travel to Russia on Friday, August 15, where he plans to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. It later became known that Trump and Putin would meet at Elmendorf-Richardson Air Force Base in Anchorage.
