US President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and called on the country’s citizens to vote for his re-election in the upcoming elections.

Trump wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.

In it, he noted that elections in Hungary will be held on April 12, 2026, and called on voters to support the current prime minister.

“He is a true friend, a fighter, and a winner, and has my complete and absolute support,” Trump wrote, adding that Orban “will never let the Hungarian people down.”

This isn’t the first time the American president has openly supported the Hungarian leader. Trump expressed a similar position back in February, essentially repeating the same language about Orbán.

In both addresses, Trump praised the Hungarian prime minister as a politician working to strengthen the economy, create jobs, develop trade, and combat illegal immigration. He also emphasized that, under Orbán’s leadership, relations between the US and Hungary, he said, have reached new heights.

As a reminder, a summit of EU leaders took place in Brussels, where one of the key issues was financial support for Ukraine , including the possible release of a 90 billion euro aid package.

At the same time, Orban stated in Brussels that Budapest will not agree to a decision in favor of Ukraine until the Druzhba oil pipeline resumes operation.
