Trump will offer Putin an end to the war in exchange for economic concessions – media

US President Donald Trump has planned to present economic incentives — but not through NATO — at his meeting with Vladimir Putin on August 15. If Moscow agrees to end the war in Ukraine, Washington could offer it preferences that would tip the balance.

This is reported by The Telegraph.

According to several informed sources, three key proposals could be on the table:

Access to Alaska’s natural resources – oil fields and minerals that can be used in Russia’s interests.

Partial lifting of sanctions against the Russian aviation industry , in particular regarding spare parts and equipment, gives the Crimean aircraft fleet a chance to keep going.

Access to rare earth minerals in the territories of Ukraine , which are currently controlled by the Russian Federation — in particular lithium, which is critically important for batteries.

The US Treasury Secretary has already been involved in the negotiations, preparing economic scenarios for the Kremlin. Analysts estimate that Ukraine has about 10% of the world’s lithium reserves, and Moscow is interested in controlling two key deposits.

Proposals could include lifting restrictions on the aviation industry, where the fleet is at over 30% worn out due to sanctions. Russian aircraft from Airbus and Boeing risk being left without service, but the lifting of sanctions would provide access to American spare parts and repair services.

At the same time, Western government officials warn that while Europe may consider such economic motivations to end the war, it should not be seen as rewarding the aggressor, otherwise it will cause a public outcry.

This scenario partly repeats the model of conflict in the Middle East, where occupation is accompanied by a controlled exchange — a kind of “land for peace” agreement.

Recall that US President Donald Trump is ready to offer Ukraine security guarantees – but outside the North Atlantic Alliance.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump said he was ready to organize a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin almost immediately after the summit in Alaska if it “goes well.”

As reported, after a joint video call with US President Donald Trump, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and French President Emmanuel Macron held a joint press conference.
