US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 33%, while 66% of Americans disapprove of his job performance, the lowest level of Trump’s approval rating in both of his terms, according to a new poll.
This is reported by The Jerusalem Post, citing research by The Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos.
According to the poll, 52% of Americans strongly disapprove of the president’s performance. Trump’s approval rating has dropped by eight percentage points in a year, falling below all the indicators that pollsters recorded during his first term.
Respondents are particularly negative about the White House’s economic policy, with only 28% of respondents supporting it.
At the same time, 48% of Americans said their financial situation had worsened after Trump returned to power in 2025. According to The Washington Post, this is the highest figure in the history of similar polls by the publication and ABC News, which have been conducted since 1986.
One of the main reasons for discontent was the increase in fuel prices. After the start of the war with Iran, gasoline prices in some states increased by 50%. At the same time, 71% of respondents consider its cost too high.
Americans also have a largely negative view of Trump’s actions toward Iran, with 65% of respondents calling the war a mistake and 72% saying the United States is moving in the wrong direction.
The poll also showed a shift in political sentiment ahead of the midterm elections for Congress. Among likely voters, 52% support the Democratic Party, while 44% support the Republican Party.
Additionally, for the first time in over a decade, Democrats have surpassed Republicans in levels of trust on economic issues.
The midterm elections will determine, among other things, who will control the U.S. House of Representatives. However, the poll results reflect voter sentiment at the time of the survey, not the final outcome of the vote.
