Only 33% of Americans approve of US President Donald Trump’s job performance. This is the lowest rating of both his presidential terms.
This is evidenced by the results of a poll by The Economist/YouGov.
At the same time, 62% of respondents disapprove of Trump’s performance, bringing his net approval rating to -29 percentage points.
By comparison, at the same stage of Trump’s first presidential term, this figure was -10 points, and for Joe Biden -17.
The biggest decline in support is among Republicans outside the MAGA movement. At the start of Trump’s second term, 90% of this group supported him, while now only 51%.
Among MAGA voters, the president’s support remains high at 92%. Meanwhile, among independent voters, only 18% support Trump, and 71% disapprove of his job performance. Among Democrats, the president’s approval rating is just 4%.
Only 17% of Americans fully approve of Trump’s performance—this is also the lowest figure in his second term.
Meanwhile, Democrats are ahead of Republicans ahead of the upcoming US Congressional elections. Forty-six percent of registered voters are prepared to vote for Democratic candidates, while 40% are prepared to vote for Republicans. This six-point gap is the widest it’s been since February.
