Trump’s former adviser has become a consultant for Lukoil’s international division.

Brian Lanza, a former senior adviser to Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign, is working as a consultant for the international division of the Russian oil company Lukoil, Politico reported, citing sources.

According to sources, Lanza and his company, Mercury Public Affairs, are cooperating with the US government on the agreement to sell international assets to Lukoil. They also helped the company secure an extension of the deadline for selling these assets. Lanza declined to comment on the situation; Mercury and Lukoil also did not respond to inquiries.

Media reports indicate that Lanza worked on Trump’s campaigns for many years, including in 2024. In November, he stated that a potential Trump administration would focus not on Ukraine’s return of occupied territories, but on “achieving peace.” He also asserted that the return of Crimea is “unrealistic” and “not a US goal.”

“If your priority is the return of Crimea and the participation of American soldiers in the fight for its return, you are on your own,” the BBC quotes him as saying.

At the same time, Trump’s spokesman emphasized that Lanza “does not speak on behalf” of the president.

Media outlets recall that back in 2018, CNN reported on Lanza’s contacts with White House officials, alongside his lobbying activities on behalf of the EN+ Group, which is controlled by Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska.
