Trump’s Sanctions Pause Allows Russia to Replenish Military Budget

Donald Trump’s reluctance to impose new sanctions against Russia is helping it to increase its military budget.
This was reported in The New York Times.
It is noted that Trump’s refusal to impose new restrictions against Russia weakened the effectiveness of existing sanctions. Moreover, some of the restrictions were even lifted.
The lifting of restrictions allowed the creation of shell companies through which chips, weapons components, and dual-use goods are supplied to Russia.
Among such companies is Hong Kong-registered HK GST Limited, which advertises the sale of microcircuits used in Russian missiles.
The company is linked to a network of suppliers it has built up in recent years, including ChipsX in Singapore and Carbon Fiber Global in China, all of which are not formally sanctioned.
Under Joe Biden’s presidency, the US imposed an average of more than 170 new sanctions per month, covering banking, defense, and energy. Now those efforts are on pause.
In February, the US Department of Justice also disbanded KleptoCapture, which was involved in identifying the assets of Russian oligarchs.
It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump is convinced that the time has come to pass a bill on new sanctions against Russia .
It is known that the desire to impose sanctions against the Russian Federation is noticeably growing in the US Senate . The bill that would introduce restrictions against Russia has garnered the support of more than 80 senators out of 100.
