The Russians are trying to catch up with Ukraine in the production of unmanned boats. The defense forces consider this threat real and are preparing for it.

This was announced during a telethon by Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk.

According to him, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the enemy had a head start, since it already had similar systems in service. However, now the Russians are forced to catch up with the Ukrainians in the field of production of naval drones.

“Do we consider this threat real? Yes, we do. Are we preparing? Yes, we are preparing. Is there scaling? Not yet,” the spokesman noted.

Pletenchuk explained that naval drones require rapid adaptation.

“We can confirm from our own experience that what works today may not work tomorrow,” he added.

As the spokesman for the Navy noted, neither side is standing still, and countermeasures and tactics for using the systems are constantly evolving.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military has repeatedly recorded the use of unmanned boats by the Russians.

“Unfortunately, some of them (applications – ed.) had consequences,” said Pletenchuk.
