Japan’s Ministry of Defense reported an incident with Russian strategic bombers that approached the country’s airspace.

It is noted that two Tu-95 aircraft, accompanied by Su-35 fighters, flew along the western coast of Japan over the Sea of Japan, passing near Sado Island, after which they changed course and flew north.
In response to the potential airspace violation, the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force scrambled fighter jets to intercept.
The Ministry of Defense has released a map of the flight route of Russian aircraft, which indicates their activity near Japanese territory.
The incident came just hours before new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was due to address parliament. In her first speech since taking office, she promised to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and accelerate the implementation of a program to strengthen national security.
It was also previously reported that the North Atlantic Alliance is actively discussing the introduction of a unified approach to responding to Russian aircraft that may pose a threat to the security of member states.
