Turkey has supplied Ukraine with new air defense systems to combat drones – media
Turkey delivered Korkut air defense systems to Ukraine to combat Russian drones in early 2026. The Ukrainian military has already tested them in combat conditions and is interested in receiving additional systems.
This is reported by Middle East Eye, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to their information, Ukraine has received a small number of Turkish-made Korkut systems. The publication’s interlocutors did not specify the exact number of equipment already in use by the Ukrainian military.
Korkut is manufactured by the Turkish company Aselsan. The system is designed to combat aerial targets, including drones and cruise missiles.
One Ukrainian official told the publication that Korkut has shown good results in countering Russian attacks. According to him, there were some problems during the use of the system, but they can be eliminated with minor adjustments.
The MEE interlocutor noted that Korkut can already be considered combat-tested. Ukraine is also interested in purchasing additional systems.
Back in 2021, information appeared that Aselsan offered Ukraine to purchase Korkut during a defense exhibition.
According to Ukrainian officials, a number of Turkish defense companies are currently cooperating with the Ukrainian military. They are testing their weapons in combat conditions and using the experience gained to improve the systems.
Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol previously said that Korkut is already in service with nine countries. The Turkish army also has the systems in service, and the company is preparing to announce new export contracts.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Turkey has supplied Ukraine with various types of weapons. Among them are Bayraktar TB2 drones, ammunition, artillery shells, and machine guns.
