Turkey is ready to send peacekeepers to Ukraine: three conditions are named
Turkey does not rule out the participation of its peacekeepers in Ukraine, but for this to happen, a ceasefire must be established and the framework of the mission with a clear mandate must be defined.
This was announced during a briefing by the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
“Turkey seeks to create peace and stability in its region and to contribute to all initiatives in this direction,” the defense ministry said.
They also noted that to attract Turkish peacekeepers it is necessary:
- the implementation of a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine:
- defined mission framework with a clear mandate:
- The amount of each country’s contribution to the peacekeeping mission is determined.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense also added that assessments regarding the potential deployment of an international peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine are currently premature and unfounded.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed the opinion that Russia’s war against Ukraine will end with an agreement. And a “peace table” will be set in Turkey .
