Turkey named the conditions for sending troops to Ukraine

Turkey has declared its readiness to send its troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping contingent, but only under clearly defined conditions.

This was reported by Turkish media, citing a statement from the country’s Ministry of Defense.

Ankara noted that the dispatch of Turkish troops is possible only after a complete ceasefire. The parties must also agree in advance on the format of the peacekeeping mission and determine the contribution of each participating state.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense emphasized that the country is ready to join any international initiative aimed at achieving lasting peace in Ukraine.

In addition, Ankara plans to continue to play a leading role in security issues in the Black Sea region. The Turkish side emphasized that it is guided by the principle of regional responsibility and stability.

The statement also said that Turkey will continue to adhere to the Montreux Convention. Ankara noted that it is implementing it carefully, responsibly and impartially, without any compromises, as the document ensures the balance of power and security in the Black Sea.

It was previously reported that near the coast of the Turkish province of Kastamonu, a drone attacked the Elbus oil tanker, which was heading towards the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

As a reminder, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will participate in the meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing” countries on January 6 in Paris.
