Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is confident that the war between Russia and Ukraine will be resolved through a deal, one he hopes will be negotiated on Turkish soil.

The statement of the Turkish President is being reported by Hurriyet.

In his statement, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that Turkey has stepped up its diplomatic efforts for peace amid escalating crises and wars in neighboring regions.

“In Russia’s war against Ukraine, Ankara is pursuing a policy centered on peace,” the Turkish leader said.

He also recalled that during the third round of negotiations in Istanbul, Ukrainian and Russian delegations agreed to conduct another prisoner exchange.

“We believe this war must end. Just as the negotiation table was set in Istanbul, the peace table will be set again in Turkey — and this bloody war will be brought to an end,” Erdoğan emphasized.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he intends to hold phone conversations with US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin this week. The purpose of these contacts is to organize a meeting to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
