Amid intensifying international efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, Türkiye is conducting parallel consultations with Kyiv and Moscow and is ready to provide its own platform for direct negotiations.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced this during a visit to Berlin.

After meeting with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul, the head of Turkish diplomacy stated that Ankara is actively involved in finding ways to achieve peace.

“We held a detailed exchange of views, particularly regarding Ukraine. We are generally united on this issue. A swift peace agreement acceptable to both sides has become a humanitarian and strategic imperative. We will continue our constructive work on this issue,” Fidan emphasized.

According to him, Turkey maintains regular contact with both sides. The minister recalled that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently visited Ankara, and the day before, the Turkish capital hosted the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin.

“We were briefed on the Russian side’s vision of the agreement. There are updates on this matter. Negotiations were also held with the Ukrainian side,” Fidan noted, emphasizing the need for a swift ceasefire.

He confirmed that Türkiye is ready to once again participate in direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, particularly in Istanbul, as it did at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

It was previously reported that during negotiations in Geneva, American and Ukrainian diplomats amended the “peace project,” reducing it to 19 points.

Let us recall that the United States may postpone the previously set deadline for signing the peace agreement.
