Twice as powerful as the Tomahawk: Ukraine has begun mass production of the Flamingo long-range cruise missile
Ukraine has received a new generation cruise missile called “Flamingo”. Its range is 3,000 km, and the warhead weighs one ton – twice as powerful as the American Tomahawk. The missile is an analogue of the FP-5 from the Milanion Group, which is already ready to produce dozens of such weapons every month.

Information about the appearance of the Flamingo in the Ukrainian arsenal was made public thanks to photos by photojournalist Yefrem Lukatsky. Although official data on the missile is currently limited, experts have identified it as the FP-5 from the Milanion Group. This model was first demonstrated at the international defense exhibition IDEX-2025 in the UAE.
Tactical and technical characteristics of “Flamingo” (FP-5):

- duration of stay in the air — more than 4 hours ;
- maximum speed — 950 km/h ;
- cruising speed — 850–900 km/h ;
- wingspan — 6 meters ;

The FP-5 has a number of features that make it attractive for mass production. In particular, the Milanion Group company announced the possibility of manufacturing more than 50 such missiles per month. This was possible due to the rejection of some complex structural solutions, such as a folding wing or universal launch containers. Instead, the rocket requires from 20 to 40 minutes for pre-launch preparation, which is considered an acceptable “compromise” given its power.
In addition, the FP-5 is equipped with a modern navigation system that combines inertial control with satellite navigation, resistant to electronic warfare. Experts also note the missile’s connection with other products of the Milanion Group. For example, its FP-1 drone has already demonstrated high accuracy and effectiveness during strikes on military targets in Yenakiyevo and Arzamas.
It is worth noting that Milanion Group is headquartered in the UAE, but signed a cooperation agreement with a Ukrainian defense company back in 2021. The corporation also operates in the UK through its Milanion NTGS division. This indicates a developed production and logistics network that allows Ukraine to receive modern long-range weapons.
The actual appearance of the Flamingo in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine means that Ukraine has gained not only a technological advantage, but also a new level of strategic deterrence.
By the way, in mid-May 2025, a successful test of a ballistic missile for the Armed Forces of Ukraine took place – it covered almost 300 kilometers and destroyed a Russian command post. After successful use, the missile is planned to be launched into series production.
Earlier, France successfully tested the latest anti-aircraft missile Aster 30 B1NT , capable of intercepting even hypersonic missiles at a distance of up to 150 km. In the future, these missiles will become part of the SAMP/T NG complex — these are the systems that Ukraine critically needs to protect itself from the Russian “Daggers” and “Zircons”.
It is worth adding that Ukraine is getting closer to receiving the latest air defense systems capable of destroying even complex types of threats, such as guided bombs. The stage of large-scale tests conducted with the participation of NATO, France and the Ukrainian side has been completed at the training ground in France.
