Two designers and collectors of Barbie dolls, Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi, died in a terrible accident that occurred in Italy.

AsOut Magazine writes, the accident was caused by an 82-year-old driver who was driving in the wrong direction for about 7 kilometers in the oncoming lane. As a result of the head-on collision, everyone died: the pensioner, both designers and their passenger.

Mattel expressed its deep sadness over the loss, posting a memorial message on Instagram .

“The Barbie team is heartbroken by the loss of Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi, two treasured Mattel creators and employees who brought joy and art to the world of Barbie. They were passionate, talented designers and collectors, and their spirit and love for the brand informed every creation they made,” the team said.

Paglino and Grossi founded Magia 2000 in 1999, specializing in unique doll designs. Over the years, they created dozens of exclusive models in collaboration with Mattel, including ones honoring stars such as Lady Gaga, Cher, Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna.
