Two boys, 10 and 11 years old, were rescued from the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region by the Russians.
The return of the children was announced by the head of the Kherson OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin.
According to him, both young residents went through trials that no child should have to experience. The Russian occupiers even tried to take one of the boys to a boarding school — effectively tearing him away from his family and depriving him of the opportunity to return home.
The children are now in Ukrainian-controlled territory, safe, under the supervision of specialists, and with all the necessary support.
Prokudin noted that this year alone, 265 children illegally detained by the Russian occupation authorities in the Kherson region have been returned. He thanked the team of the presidential initiative “Bring Kids Back UA” and the structures of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, who are helping to rescue Ukrainian children from occupation.
As reported, Russia refuses to comply with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the case “Ukraine and the Netherlands v. Russia.” On July 9, 2025, the court found the Russian Federation responsible for systemic human rights violations, the illegal transfer of Ukrainian children , and the downing of flight MH17.
