Two cars exploded with explosive devices in Zhytomyr region, five people died

Two car explosions occurred in the forests of the northern Zhytomyr region after they hit explosive devices. Five people were killed and three others were injured as a result of the incidents.

This was reported by the police of the Zhytomyr region.

According to preliminary data, in the first case, residents of a border community were driving a UAZ car along the state border to carry out logging. They arbitrarily changed their route and drove past warning signs, after which the car exploded on a mine.

The explosion killed five men aged 19 to 65. Two others were injured to varying degrees and were hospitalized.

On the same day, another incident occurred in the forest. According to preliminary information, a 55-year-old and a 32-year-old resident of the Korosten region, who were transporting forest products in a ZIL truck, ran over a mine. The younger man was injured and taken to the hospital.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the events and emphasize the need for strict adherence to safety rules.

Law enforcement officers urge citizens not to approach border areas where warning signs “Stop! Mines!” are posted.

Visiting forest areas in the border zone of Zhytomyr region, in particular within a radius of up to 30 kilometers from the state border, remains prohibited.
