Two high-speed trains collide in Slovakia, leaving many injured.

On the morning of October 13, near the village of Jablunov nad Turnou in Slovakia, two high-speed trains collided, injuring approximately 100 people.

This was announced by the Minister of the Interior, Matus Sutaj Estok, as quoted by the Slovak news agency TASR.

According to preliminary reports, two injured people are in serious condition, and three others remain trapped in the train wreckage. There are no reports of fatalities yet.

The minister noted that the likely cause of the accident was human error—one of the drivers likely failed to yield to another train.

“I don’t want to speculate on the reasons right now, but according to preliminary information, it was not a system error, but a human one,” said Sutai Estok.

The accident occurred at a point where two roads intersect and merge. Two rescue helicopters and six ambulances were dispatched to the scene to rescue people, said Petra Klimesova, a spokesperson for the emergency services.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that there is currently no information about Ukrainian casualties. Ukrainian consuls are maintaining contact with local police.
