Two journalists of a famous Ukrainian TV channel died in Kramatorsk

On Thursday, October 23, during the Russian shelling of Kramatorsk with a Lancet drone, FreeDom TV channel journalist Alena Gramova (Gubanova) and cameraman Yevgeny Karmazin were killed.

The tragedy was reported by the state enterprise “Multimedia Platform for Foreign Broadcasting of Ukraine” (MPIU), “Detector Media” reports.

Special correspondent Oleksandr Kolychev was also injured and taken to the hospital.

According to preliminary information, at the time of the attack, a team of journalists was in a car on the territory of a gas station.

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, confirmed the death of the media workers on his Telegram channel.

“From the first days of the full-scale war, they tirelessly told the truth about the events in the Donetsk region – about the crimes of the enemy, the evacuation of civilians, the stories of our soldiers. They always worked where it was most dangerous.
“It’s hard to believe that they are no longer here… This is a great loss for the region and the entire country. Bright, sincere, honest – we will remember them forever,” Filashkin wrote.

Alena Gramova was born in Yenakiieve, Donetsk Oblast. Since 2021, she has worked as a war correspondent for the Ukrainian state foreign service, covering the fighting in eastern Ukraine — in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts.

Alena was a financier by education, but after the start of Russian aggression in 2014, she became a volunteer, and later a journalist.

In June 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded her the Order of Princess Olga, 3rd degree. In the same year, she won the regional contest “Woman of Donetsk Region” in the nomination “Journalist of the Year”.

Colleagues from the Donbas Media Forum mentioned that this year Alyona was the host of the third day of the Forum:

“On October 11, she stood on the main stage, moderating discussions, communicating with colleagues. Her professionalism and dedication to journalism left a deep mark in the hearts of everyone who worked with her.”

Alena Gramova was 43 years old.

Yevhen Karmazin was born in Kramatorsk and has worked as a state broadcasting operator since 2021.
