Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on statements by self-proclaimed Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko regarding possible negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this while speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, which was broadcast on YouTube .
Zelensky stated that it is difficult to comment on Lukashenko’s words, since “he lives in his own world, which he built for himself and in which he has been for three decades.”
According to the Ukrainian leader, Lukashenko has “isolated himself in his own house, the size of an entire country,” and is forgetting that Belarus is an independent state.
“He’s in his own world, but Putin comes by sometimes, and they talk there—two old men. It’s difficult to comment,” Zelensky added.
As a reminder, Belarus is rapidly becoming a strategic staging area for Russian military plans . According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the latest Russian medium-range ballistic missile, the Oreshnik, could be deployed in the country by the end of 2025.
As reported, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated that joint military exercises with Russia will include scenarios for the use of nuclear weapons, as well as the latest Oreshnik system . He stated that this is an important element of strategic deterrence amid growing tensions on the country’s western and northern borders.
