Two terrorist attacks in one day: what is known about the car bombings in Odessa

Two car explosions occurred in Odessa within a few hours. The Security Service of Ukraine has already classified the morning incident as a terrorist attack, and another car exploded in the city in the afternoon. According to preliminary reports from local media, there are dead and injured.

This was reported by the SBU in the Odessa region and local media.

According to the SBU, at around 08:00, an explosion occurred in one of the courtyards of a multi-storey building on Semena Paliya Street. The detonation injured a 49-year-old driver of a crossover. Medics provided him with assistance on the spot.

The Security Service has opened criminal proceedings under Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Terrorist Act”). Law enforcement officers, together with the police and the prosecutor’s office, are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in its organization.

Meanwhile, another car explosion occurred in Odessa during the day. According to local media, the car detonated in the middle of the road during rush hour. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no fatalities or injuries.

There is currently no official information regarding the causes of the second explosion. Law enforcement agencies have not yet commented on the incident.
