Bail has been posted for MP Yulia Tymoshenko, who is suspected of corruption.
Transparency International reports this, citing the press service of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
Tymoshenko previously stated that she planned to appeal the court’s decision to place her on bail. She claimed that the freezing of her and her husband’s bank accounts prevented him from making the necessary payments.
If the appellate court had not reversed the decision, the deputy said she would seek financial assistance from friends and colleagues to pay bail, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
As a reminder, the NABU and SAPO have served notice of suspicion on MP Yulia Tymoshenko, head of the Batkivshchyna faction. The investigation includes allegations of bribery of parliamentarians in exchange for supporting or blocking certain initiatives in the parliamentary session hall. The NABU also released audio recordings in the case concerning the alleged offering of improper benefits to MPs.
In response, Batkivshchyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko stated that she had nothing to do with the audio recordings released by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. She also emphasized her intention to prove her position in court.
On January 16, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure against Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko. The court set bail at over 33 million hryvnias and imposed a number of procedural obligations on her.
