Ukraine agreed to limit the size of the army: what is the maximum permitted number of soldiers?

In the updated version of the American peace plan, Ukraine agreed to reduce the size of the Armed Forces to 800,000 people.

This was reported by the Financial Times, citing high-ranking Ukrainian officials.

Previously, there was talk of limiting the army to 600,000 soldiers. However, this point worried European leaders. The plan they prepared proposed reducing the army by 800,000 in peacetime.

Kyiv reportedly agreed to the move as part of efforts to resolve the war. However, it is not yet known whether the restrictions apply to the martial law period.

In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and American leader Donald Trump are expected to agree on other “most sensitive issues.” Presumably, these are territories and security guarantees.

As a reminder, the Trump administration’s ceasefire plan provides for the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions , as well as the freezing of the contact line in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump approved a plan for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia , which consists of 28 points.

It should be noted that after the negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva, the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.

As is known, Ukraine has given preliminary consent to the American peace proposal to end the war, but the process is being slowed down by the complete lack of reaction from Russia.
