Ukraine continues to increase its advantage over Russia in drone warfare. Currently, the Ukrainian military is about one and a half times ahead of the occupiers in the number of FPV drones used, and this gap continues to widen.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
According to him, in May alone, the Defense Forces’ unmanned systems units hit almost 180,000 confirmed enemy targets. This is more than 12% more than a month earlier.
Also, the Ukrainian military neutralized about 4,000 Russian Shahed drones and struck almost 10,000 positions of enemy drone operators in a month.
Syrsky added that since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian drone operators have destroyed 12,500 more Russian military personnel than Russia has been able to attract to its unmanned systems units during this time.
Separately, during the meeting, the military command analyzed the results of strikes on Russian rear areas at a distance of up to 200 kilometers from the front.
According to the commander-in-chief, in May alone, the Defense Forces carried out almost 2,000 such strikes. Among the targets were headquarters, command posts, areas of troop concentration, and other important objects of the occupiers. In total, the Ukrainian military hit 414 such targets.
Syrsky noted that the improved results were achieved thanks to better coordination between units and the creation of special control centers in the corps.
At the same time, he emphasized that Russia is also actively developing its own unmanned systems and is trying to adopt Ukrainian experience.
However, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russians are having problems manning such units. Since the beginning of the year, they have managed to recruit only 14,500 contract soldiers, which is slightly more than a fifth of the planned number. A campaign to involve students in working with drones has also not yielded the expected results.
