Ukraine has 4 potential interceptors capable of shooting down Russian Shahed jet drones. The developments have already passed field tests, and the next stage should be to bring them to the required level of readiness and scale up production.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yevheniy Khmara during a press conference.
According to Khmara, work on means to counter jet drones is ongoing.
“There are already 4 potential interceptors that can shoot down Shahed jets. Field tests have already been conducted on them,” he said.
The next stage should be to bring the developments to the required level of readiness as soon as possible. After that, they plan to scale up production of interceptors to thousands of units.
It was previously reported that Russia has significantly increased the number of Shahed drones it is using to attack Ukraine . While about 1,500 such drones were recorded in July, in August their number had already exceeded 2,500.
By the way, the Ukrainian Defense Forces received the first Ukrainian jet unmanned interceptor Alexa Spatium . It was designed to combat small air targets, primarily Russian strike drones.
Recall that combat tests of the first domestic jet interceptor drones, designed to combat a new generation of Russian drones, are underway in Ukraine. One of these devices is already reaching speeds of over 600 km/h.
