Ukraine and Russia have agreed on a local ceasefire in Oleshki, Kherson region, starting October 29. The ceasefire should ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and preparation for the evacuation of civilians.

This was reported by the White House press service .

According to the US administration, the agreements were reached through the mediation of US First Lady Melania Trump, who, together with her representative, cooperated with the leadership of Ukraine and Russia.

The White House noted that Melania Trump initiated the negotiations and agreed with both parties on the objectives of the agreement, technical procedures, terms, and conditions for its implementation.

According to the agreements, civilian representatives of the Ukrainian and Russian leadership will jointly visit the residents of Oleshki to assess their needs. Those who wish to evacuate will be promised assistance and transportation to their chosen destination.

Melania Trump said that some residents may want to leave for Ukraine, and others for Russia.

“I have also secured an independent American media organization to accompany and document the Russian and Ukrainian teams on the ground throughout the process. This will play a significant role in ensuring that each family’s wishes are faithfully carried out,” the US first lady said.

By the way, Russia plans to hold a so-called international teleconference to accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine of crimes against the civilian population and divert attention from its own war crimes in the occupied territories, in particular in Oleshki, Kherson region.

It was previously reported that a humanitarian catastrophe is ongoing in the temporarily occupied Oleshki in the Kherson region. About two thousand people remain in the city, who have critical problems with access to food and medicine, while the possibility of leaving is effectively blocked.

Subsequently, the Ukrainian military delivered humanitarian aid to occupied Oleshki for the second time, handing over almost 4 tons of food, medicine, and baby kits to the residents.
