Ukraine and Russia have come close to agreeing on the terms of the evacuation of civilians from the occupied Oleshky community in the Kherson region. The negotiations envisage the evacuation of these civilians to territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.

This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, on the Espresso TV channel.

According to the ombudsman, the Russian side has considered all of Ukraine’s proposals for organizing the evacuation. The parties are finalizing the details, including the introduction of a ceasefire, which should ensure the safe departure of civilians.

The evacuation could include not only Oleshky but also six other nearby settlements. According to Ukrainian estimates, approximately 6,000 civilians, including up to 200 children, remain in these areas. Up to 2,000 people may be in Oleshky itself.

Lubinets noted that negotiations with the Russian side continue daily. Despite the complex issues, he believes Ukraine has made significant progress in agreeing on the terms of the evacuation.

Final agreements have not yet been reached. The parties must agree on a ceasefire to allow people to leave occupied settlements and travel to Ukrainian-controlled territory.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian troops delivered humanitarian aid to occupied Oleshky for the second time, handing over approximately 4 tons of food, medicine, and baby supplies to residents.

Furthermore, Russia is producing staged videos featuring residents of the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, who are planned to be forced to talk about the supposedly prosperous life in the town. This is Moscow’s attempt to deny reports of a humanitarian catastrophe in the occupied territory.

A humanitarian catastrophe also continues in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. Around two thousand people remain in the town, facing acute problems accessing food and medicine, and their ability to leave is effectively blocked.
