Ukraine and Russia held another prisoner exchange: most of those released had been in captivity since 2022

Today, August 24, Ukraine and Russia held another exchange of prisoners, in particular, they managed to return military personnel and civilians home.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
It is noted that the exchange of prisoners of war took place within the framework of agreements reached during negotiations in Istanbul.
Among the released fighters are representatives of the Airborne Assault Forces, Air Force and Navy, as well as soldiers of the Territorial Defense, National Guard and State Border Service. They fought in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Sumy directions and defended Mariupol and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
As Zelensky noted , most of those released had been in Russian captivity since 2022.
Also, as part of the exchange, 8 civilians returned to the territory of Ukraine, including journalists Dmytro Khylyuk and Mark Kaliush, medic Serhiy Kovalev from the Hospitallers battalion, and former mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Mykolayenko.
The Coordination Headquarters emphasized that those released from captivity will receive a full range of necessary medical care, including examination and treatment. In addition, each of them will receive payments from the state, undergo rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
“Exchanges continue. And perhaps this is thanks to our soldiers who replenish the exchange fund for Ukraine. Our team that works every day. Partners who help,” Zelenskyy concluded.
It is worth adding that during a meeting with European leaders, the NATO Secretary General, and the Ukrainian president at the White House , Trump stated that a new prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia may take place soon .
Recall that on August 14, Ukraine managed to return another 84 people from Russian captivity . These are military and civilians, almost all of whom need medical assistance.
