Ukraine and the Czech Republic discussed joint projects for the construction of shelters in front-line regions

Ukraine and the Czech Republic discussed the construction and technical equipment of protective structures in front-line regions, as well as their design standards.
This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The meeting was held by Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev and Kateryna Pavlichenko with representatives of the Czech Republic. It was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service, the Czech Embassy, and Czech companies specializing in the construction and equipment of shelters.
Oleksiy Sergeev thanked the Czech Republic for its support for Ukraine and participation in the international Shelter Coalition. According to him, it currently includes 12 partner states and four international organizations.
One of the key areas of the coalition’s work is the construction of new capital shelters. This area is also identified as a priority in the strategy for developing the civil defense fund until 2034.
The coalition has already managed to raise over 22 million euros. These funds were used to select 12 projects to build shelters in educational institutions and medical facilities in front-line regions.
Eight projects have already received approval for funding, and work on them has begun.
Separately, during the meeting, the pace of project implementation was discussed. Kateryna Pavlichenko emphasized the importance of timely financing and the use of rapid technological solutions for the construction of shelters.
Ukraine and the Czech Republic have also considered expanding the network of mobile protective structures. They are planned to be used where the construction of permanent shelters takes more time or is complicated by the security situation.
In addition, the parties discussed standards for the construction of protective structures. For further work, they agreed to continue the dialogue with the participation of the State Emergency Service.
Thus, cooperation within the Shelter Coalition encompasses both the attraction of international funding and the practical participation of partners in the construction and equipping of protective structures in the regions most affected by Russian attacks.
