Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhiy Tykhyi, reported that Ukraine and the United States are negotiating and “working to agree on all these details” regarding the possible provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles – there is currently no categorical refusal, but a detailed and active discussion about technical and organizational nuances is ongoing.
This is reported by “We – Ukraine” .
Tykhyi confirmed the start of the negotiation process between Kyiv and Washington regarding the possible supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles.
According to him, the Ukrainian side welcomes “positive signals” from the US and notes that, unlike the previous administration, now “there is no such response” – that is, there is no categorical refusal to transfer.
Tykhyi stressed that the question had been raised before, but the answer then was “no.” Now, he said, there was a “very detailed and active discussion” about the possibility of providing such missiles.
He explained that the negotiations are focused precisely on technical and practical aspects: what type of missiles are these, “from which launchers are they launched,” to what extent is this possible, and “in what forms, in what configurations” can they be provided to Ukraine.
According to Tykhy, the Ukrainian and American teams are currently “working to agree on all these details, to discuss all these nuances” — that is, they are agreeing on technical compatibility, equipment, and other parameters that will determine a possible transfer.
Previously, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov threatened the United States with “serious consequences” if it transfers Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump said that he has almost made a decision on transferring Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. It is worth noting that the White House administration is concerned about whether it will be possible to control the use of such missiles after their transfer to allies and further to the Ukrainian side.
By the way, Putin stated the possible “destruction of relations” between Russia and the United States if Washington decides to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles.
