Ukraine and the US are preparing a Drone Deal: what is known about the new defense agreement

Ukraine and the United States are preparing a new defense agreement in the field of drones, which could become one of the key areas of cooperation between the countries.

We are talking about the so-called Drone Deal – a large-scale agreement on the joint production of drones, the development of military technologies, and the export of Ukrainian defense developments.

According to sources, Kyiv and Washington have already prepared a memorandum that spells out the main conditions for future cooperation.

The document was agreed upon by the US Department of State and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the US, Olga Stefanyshyna.

The publication’s interlocutors call this memorandum the first step towards a major defense agreement between the countries.

In particular, we are talking about the possibility of exporting Ukrainian defense technologies to the United States, as well as the creation of joint ventures with American companies for the production of drones.

In recent months, Ukraine has already signed defense agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

Currently, almost 20 countries are involved in negotiations for such cooperation. Four agreements have already been signed, and the first contracts are in the preparation stage.

According to CBS News, Ukraine proposed the idea of such a partnership to the United States back in the summer of 2025 after Operation Spiderweb, when Ukrainian drones attacked Russian military facilities far behind the front line.

At the same time, the material notes that the main condition for the export of Ukrainian developments remains the protection of the intellectual property of Ukrainian companies and the preservation of a sufficient number of weapons for the needs of the front.
